AUGUSTA, Ga.---As News 12 reported Monday evening, former Augusta commissioner Marion Williams is back in a political race.
He announced Tuesday at Midday he will be running against Senator Ed Tarver, D-Augusta, for the 22nd State Senate seat. Williams will also run as a Democrat. The primary election is July 15th.
Williams touted the future of Augusta in making his announcement.
Sen. Tarver was first elected in 2005 in a special election. He was re-elected in 2006.
State Senate terms are for two years. The 22nd district includes much
of Augusta, including the downtown area and parts of the west and south sides.
