AUGUSTA, Ga.---On a 5-4 vote, the Authority board voted to fire general manager Robert "Flash" Gordon from his jobs as James Brown Arena and Bell Auditorium manager.

The vote came after two closed door executive sessions. Three board
members left before the final vote was taken.

Board member Freddie Sanders led the move to oust Gordon. Member Keith Brown recommended punishment without firing, but that was rejected.

Gordon, a longtime Augusta record store owner and music promoter, had been the manager since late November 2006.
