Cell phone towers can be higher

AIKEN CTY, S.C. -- Cell phone tower height in Aiken County is over.

On Tuesday Night, the council said okay to the new height restriction.

Single family home residential areas can not have towers unless they are placed on top of an existing building.

Other residential areas can have towers up to 100 feet and 1500 feet from any homes.

In commercial areas, towers can be as tall as 150 feet.

In industrial areas, the height is 250 feet and in the rural areas, the towers can be 350 feet.
