AUGUSTA, Ga.---He robbed the Wachovia Bank on Washington Road. You can call him a bold bandit. He walked in with no disguise...cameras caught it all. Now it's your turn to go to work.
"It's just horrible. It's horrible," said Wachovia customer Ann Riley.
She is upset after a bank robbery on Washington Road during lunch hour. "It just frightens you. My goodness you don't know what to think," said Ann.
News 12 has pictures of the suspect. He is believed to be in his mid-20s. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and black plants...similar to that of a chef. "People get desperate, and this is what they do," said customer Earl Walls.
The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money. It is said to be Augusta's first bank robbery of the year. "We take em seriously so we cleared out the division when the call went out," said Lt. Scott Peebles.
The suspect was armed only with a slip of paper. He walked into the Wachovia branch at the corner of Bertram Road. He stood in line, and slipped a note to the teller demanding money. "My goodness...My goodness...I'm glad I wasn't in the bank," said Ann. But she was in route. Ann Riley says she stops by the Wachovia at least once a day. Monday, Mrs. Riley and many others got this..."We are closed." Investigators were busy at work conducting interviews, and gathering finger prints.
"I think it's pretty bad. People have to resort to things like this to get money," said customer Virginia Hamilton. "It's like this all over the world. It's crazy stuff happening all the time," said Earl.
