COLUMBIA CTY, Ga.---Columbia County Sheriff Clay Whittle was expected to travel to Augusta Thursday to honor local restaurant workers who helped to catch a suspected bank robber.

The Sheriff planned to be at Longhorn Steakhouse, 3267 Washington Road, during the morning.

On November 26, 2007 a robbery happened at the Regions Bank, 360 Fury's Ferry Road in Columbia County. Just over a day later, officers captured Shawn Widdon of West Palm Beach, Florida at a motel in Aiken. They say they found some of the money taken from the bank.

Sheriff Whittle said tips provided by workers at Longhorn led to the arrest. He will present plaques to the employees who helped.
