COLUMBIA, S.C.---South Carolina has a new acting U.S. Attorney.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin McDonald was named to the position Wednesday. His first day in the interim job will be Saturday.

McDonald replaces U.S. Attorney Reggie Lloyd, who will become Chief of the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) that same day. He was confirmed earlier this month by the South Carolina Senate.

President Bush will nominate Lloyd's permanent successor, based on recommendations by the state's U.S. Senators.
