EVANS, Ga.---Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue and Haz-Mat Team worked an oil spill at Jim Whitehead Tire & Auto in Evans Saturday morning.

Employees at the store discovered a puncture in a 300 gallon storage tank. Approximately 150 gallons of oil had leaked onto the ground.

Emergency Services Director Pam Tucker tells News 12 that due to the amount of leaked oil, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division was contacted, and two EPD Emergency Response Team members came to Evans.

Tucker says "the size and scope of the spill will require a significant cleanup". Fire personnel blocked off the area and the auto shop owners contacted a private haz-mat contractor to do the cleanup.
