The Augusta area experienced rain, thunder and lightning overnight Sunday into early Monday.

However, that same line of storms brought more severe weather to parts of west and central Georgia.

At least eight people were hurt in Crawford County when strong winds and lightning damaged homes and knocked down trees.

Damage was also reported near Carrollton and into Cobb County.
Georgia Power was working Monday to restore power to about 2000 customers.

Earlier, a suspected tornado touched down in Prattville, Alabama, near
Montgomery. At least 29 people were hurt, and there was major damage to homes and businesses, including a Wal-Mart store.

No deaths were reported in the storm.
