Augusta Commission Meets Today

The Augusta Commission meets today...One item up for consideration is the alcohol license for the 1102 Bar and Grill in the downtown area. A commission committee voted to put the club on probation for 90 days. It's up to the full commission to decide. The commission is also looking at a possible re-zoning to allow a chemical plant to move not far from the Hyde Park area. There's also a proposal for a $1 increase in
the hotel-motel tax to finance improvements in the Laney Walker and
Bethlehem Heritage areas.

Jaguars Squeak

In sports, the Augusta State men's basketball team outlasted Columbus State, 68 to 65. ASU is now 15 and 4 on the season and second in the Peach Belt Conference behind USC-Aiken.

Pancake Day

This is Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. The Episcopal Church of the Ridge in Edgefield is hosting a traditional Pancake Supper tonight from 6 to 7:30 pm. It's at the Parish Hall in Edgefield, and the meals are just $3.
