Evans teenager dead after head-on collision

CLARKS HILL, Ga-- An 18-year-old Augusta State student is dead after a head-on collision in Columbia County.

It happened around 3:00 Saturday afternoon on Washington Road in Clark's Hill near the Fort Gordon Rec Area.

Columbia County Deputy Coroner Harriet Garrison says Callie Meadows was killed when the Honda Accord she was driving hit a Chevy Tahoe head-on.

Five people were in the Tahoe. All five are now in the hospital. Two were airlifted from the scene, the other 3 were taken to MCG by ambulance. Three were released and the other two passengers are now in fair and good condition.

Meadows graduated from Greenbrier High School last year. The viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 7- 9:00 at Poteet Funeral Home on Davis Road. The funeral will be on Wednesday at 2:00 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, located on Aumond Road in Augusta.
