AUGUSTA, Ga.---City leaders are looking for a way to honor a former mayor of Augusta. Mayor Charles DeVaney will get a plaque in his honor.

Now, the question becomes where? Leadership Augusta is behind the plan. The plaque would look similar to this one located at the Augusta Common.

There's also talk of constructing a memorial walk at the Augusta Common Some commissioners want time to decide on the best fit for the plaque.

Ted Hussey of Leadership Augusta is willing to wait out the process. "The wheels grind slowly, but very fine. We're partly there. We've got the design approved and what we need now is a location."

The city administrator is working with a community group on the project. They are considering the Augusta Common and the Riverwalk as possible locations.
