AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Augusta chapter of The Links Inc., a national women's service organization, has donated a refurbished home to a family that formerly lived in a shelter.

Lisa Holmes and her two sons are moving into the home on Gardner St. in Augusta. She is a U.S. Army veteran who'd been living in a shelter since the summer of 2007.

She recently got a job, and told News 12 she's excited about being a good neighbor.

In her words, "It's a trip for me. I haven't gotten a gift like this since my mom gave me birth. I don't really think it has sunk in."

This was part of the "Home for the Homeless" initiative, which involves
buying a home, renovating it, and giving it to a homeless family.
