YUMA, Ariz.---He performed at a concert at James Brown Arena December 20th. Now singer Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., has been booked on three felony drug charges in Arizona.
He has now been released from custody in Yuma County after posting
$10,000 bail. Later he signed autographs for fans outside a bondman's office.
Deputies say they found four ounces of marijuana and just over an ounce of cocaine. They also found a 40 caliber pistol registered to
Carter. He has a concealed weapons permit in Florida, but deputies
are looking into whether he violated any Arizona weapons laws.
He faces charges of possession of dangerous drugs, narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Two other men with him were also arrested.
A Yuma County sheriff's captain said Carter was arrested by Drug
Enforcement Administration agents at a Border Patrol checkpoint.
Lil Wayne and Birdman won a recent viewers' choice award at the 2007 Hip-Hop Awards for their song "Stuntin' Like My Daddy".
