State School Supt. to visit troubled Augusta school

Augusta, Ga--

Georgia State School Superintendent Kathy Cox will be in Augusta Thursday, January 24.

She will be visiting Tubman Middle School on Walton Way. The school
has not made adequate yearly progress for the past eight years.

If Tubman fails to make the grade this year, the state would step in to manage the school.

Richmond County Supt. Dana Bedden intervened earlier when several
teachers did not want to return to the school after the Christmas break.
The local school board also appointed the Alternative Center principal,
Dr. Wayne Frazier, as the new Tubman principal
