Padilla gets 17 years

MIAMI, Fla.---Jose Padilla has been sentenced to 17 years.

37-year-old Padilla has been held in a Navy brig in South Carolina for more than three years as an enemy combatant. He was convicted last summer of conspiring to support Islamic extremists around the world.

He was originally arrested on accusations that he plotted to set off a radioactive "dirty bomb".

Padilla was also investigated for a possible role in the attacks on 9/11.
