AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta is expanding into Mississippi.
Center director Dr. Fred Mullins says an outpatient clinic will open in Rankin, Mississippi in March. It will offer follow up care to those treated in Augusta after suffering burn injuries.
The outpatient center could handle up to 24 patients a month.
Mississippi has been without a burn unit since budget cuts forced the closing of the state's only center months ago. The Still Burn Center has treated about 200 patients from Mississippi since that time.
