Thomson, Ga--

A McDuffie County jury has found Michael Samuel Johnson guilty
of felony murder and using a gun during a commission of a crime.

The verdict came Friday.

Johnson was convicted of killing Todd Brooks at a home on Wrens Highway in November 2006.

He was sentenced to life in prison, plus five years for using a gun
during the crime.

Johnson's trial began Tuesday. The jury returned the verdict after
starting deliberations late Thursday afternoon.

Johnson is being held in the McDuffie County jail now. District Attorney Dennis Sanders, who prosecuted the case, says federal
firearms charges are pending against Johnson.
