AUGUSTA, GA -- A local judge says it's time for him to retire, but he's not throwing in the towel just yet.

Judge Duncan D. Wheale tells News 12 he's already sent his letter of resignation to Governor Sonny Perdue.

It will officially take effect January 5th of next year.

Judge Wheale is one of just eight Superior Court Judges in the Augusta Judicial Circuit.
