Woman allegedly steals car, runs, leaves baby

January 4, 2008

AUGUSTA, Ga.---Richmond County investigators say a woman handed off her baby girl to a stranger as she tried to get away from authorities after stealing a car.

Deputies say 18-year-old Tomeka Rolland stole a 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix from the driveway of Bryan Parker. Investigators recovered the car around 1:30 yesterday afternoon after it had crashed into another car.

Rolland attempted to run away and handed her baby girl to someone in the gathering crowd.

Rolland is now at a hospital, and has not been arrested yet.
