AUGUSTA, Ga. --- A man is behind bards this evening after admitting to 6 robberies this month. The suspect, Calvin White. He was picked up Sunday night after a robbery at the Kangaroo Express BP Station at 1455 Jones Street.
5 businesses in downtown Augusta and along Walton Way are thrilled after finding out a man who robbed their businesses is now off the streets.
On Sunday Night just after 8, Investigators in Richmond County saying the Kangaroo Express on Jones Street was robbed. And shortly after that, a Deputy stopping a man on 13th Street -- Calvin White -- who matched witnesses description of the store robber.
"He then began fighting with the Deputy. During the fight, both were injured," says Richmond Co. Sheriff Office Sgt. Ken Rogers.

"During the investigation, we found he was actually involved in 5 other robberies that have happened," says Sgt. Rogers.
Investigators say White admitted to those robberies, all within the last 2 weeks. The Ramada Inn on the 600 block of Broad Street on December 23rd. The Family Dollar on Walton Way on December 22nd. The Comfort Inn at 1455 Walton Way and the Budget Inn on the 400 block of Broad Street on the 20th. And White admitted to robbing the Budget Inn again. This time, 4 days earlier. His M-O: The same at the Kangaroo Express and The Family Dollar.
"The suspect would bring a pack of gum to the counter holding a dollar bill. When the clerk opened up the register, the suspect identified himself as Mr. White, would reach over the counter and snatch the money," says Sgt. Rogers.
Surveillance video shows White jumping over the counter at the Ramada Inn. Sgt. Rogers saying this move the same at the 4 other robberies.
