AIKEN, SC-- The death toll on Aiken County roads is rising still.

An accident this morning made 25-year-old Joseph Gunter of Wagener the 46th to die on the county's roads this year.

Coroner Tim Carlton says Gunter was headed home from a party in Aiken a little after 6:00 Saturday morning.

He lost control of his SUV on New Holland Road near Cook's Bridge Road. He flipped and hit several trees.

Gunter was not wearing a seatbelt and was trapped in the vehicle. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Seems like the county council should redirect its public safety funds and attempt to protect the county roads and highways rather than allowing the sheriff deputies to run all around the county arresting innocent people just based on allegations or mere suspicion. We had some 46 traffic fatality in Aiken County and statewide there were some 1071. Somethings wrong with that picture given there are 46 counties in South Carolina.

I am from the Boston area where traffic and accidents are the norm. However, they can't compete with Aiken. That is such a sad problem

On Sunday, December 16, a story was aired that a Windsor woman was robbed of all her Christmas presents, television, and several other things. All week a friend and I decided to do what little we can. I put up jars to help her and my friend went to place and got some donations. December 22, what little we did is not enough. The kids are without a television and still no activity to keep them busy as they wait for Santa arrival. Does anybody care about us in Windsor? They do in Augusta and Aiken.
