AUGUSTA, Ga.---A scheduled bond hearing for 22-year old Jeanette Hawes is canceled. News 12 has family reaction. "It got to get better for me," says Janice Hawes, a 46 year old mother of 9. One of Janice's children, Jeanette Hawes, is now in jail charged with murdering her two children...Jordan and Shakayla.
"I know God won't put no more on me than I can bear. Sometimes God allows you to go through things for a reason. I don't understand it but God will show me by and by what he's trying to say," says Janice Hawes.
Janice's daughter was scheduled to go before a judge Wednesday for a bond hearing. The public defenders office canceled that hearing. Meanwhile, News 12 is learning more about Jeanette's mental condition. Janice says, "She thinks I got the kids...cause she saying I got to get home to my mom house because my mom got my kids."
Jeanette Hawes is being kept at the Law Enforcement Center in a medical portion of the jail with about 15 or 20 other women under constant supervision. Her mother says that's where she should stay.
"You know I want my daughter home, but I feel like she's not in her right mind right now. I know that's my daughter...I lover her...and her sisters and brothers love her."
Janice says it is that tough love that allows a mother to feel comfortable with the thought of her daughter sitting behind bars. "I just feel right now that she should get the psychological help that she need and the treatment before she come home."
