AUGUSTA, GA---For the second straight year the Tour de Georgia will not begin in Augusta.
The sixth annual race begins April 21, 2008 at Tybee Island, according to the race website.
The second stage begins in Statesboro and ends in Augusta. The seven state bicycle race ends Sunday April 27th in Atlanta.
The Tour de Georgia began in 2003; the race covers roughly 650 miles.
After a couple of events in which the Tour de Georgia actually started in the Garden city, last year Augusta was skipped over for any of the stages, but will be the finish line for the second stage this year.
