Former James Brown trustee misses court deadline

November 29, 2007

Former James Brown trustee David Cannon is in the hot seat again after missing yet another court deadline. In a court hearing on November 15th, Judge Jack Early ordered Cannon to turn over all his financial records by Tuesday.

News 12 did some checking with the Aiken County Clerks Office. Workers say they haven't received any documents from Cannon. We also talked to people in the Probate Office, but we got the same answer.

Last week, Cannon testified he could not pay back the $373,000 he owed in back music royalties. However, Cannon also told the court he paid more than $860,000 for work on a house he just bought in Honduras.

Cannon could be in contempt of court for not turning over those documents.
