Man charged in 1st Street murder

AUGUSTA, Ga.---A man is in jail charged with the shooting death of Jimmy Quarles on 1st Street in Augusta.

22-year-old Alfonzo Dawkins is charged with murder.

Investigators say Dawkins shot Quarles in the head behind an abandoned home just after noon last Monday (November 19).

Investigators say more arrests could follow.

    I am pleased to know that someone has been caught for this tragic incident and for the comment before mine it really doesnt matter where you live CRIME is everywhere I was born and raised in Augusta and now I am living in Atlanta and its a shame because I know the young man that did this not personally but I have seen him around and its just stupid that these youg men dont have any respect fro life and good chracter but he will suffer more than anyone I hope they let rot in prison because he hurt alot of people by takinh Jimmys life. Black people need a rude awakening espeacially the young men.

    is our town safe any more alot of people is geting killed latley i need to move out of augusta cause a lot of people is getting killed
