Bank Robber
A suspected bank robber is on the loose, and investigators in Aiken need your help tracking him down. They say he robbed the Security Federal Bank on Laurens street around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon. Investigators say he came into the bank with a handgun and demanded money from the teller. He's believed to be in his late 30's to early 40's and walks with a limp.
All Three James Brown Trustees Step Down
This morning, all three of the men James Brown trusted to run his affairs have stepped down. One trustee, David Cannon, was held in contempt of court, and two others resigned. All this happened Tuesday in a Bamberg courtroom. Also during the hearing, Tomi Rae Brown's attorney asked the judge to rule on whether she is the rightful widow or not within the next three months.
Taxes Going Up?
You could have to dig deeper into your pockets to pay your taxes next year. Augusta City Administrator Fred Russell wants a 0.971 millage rate increase. That's about $33.00 per year on a $100,000.00 home. The tax hike would give raises to 664 Richmond County deputies. This morning, commissioners argue if the city increases pay for deputies, the same needs to be done for firefighters. Administrator Fred Russell will look at the suggestiuon and return December 6th with a plan.
Dreams Owners Have Other Dreams
A local nightclub is on probation for the rest of the year after a vote from the augusta commission. However, the owners of Club Dreams say they have different dreams for their business. News 12 has learned, they're considering moving the club by the first of the year.
This follows ten citations for noise violations, but owners say the move has nothing to do with those tickets.
Clearwater Stabbing
A man is recovering this morning after a stabbing in Clearwater. One man was injured at the Rainbow Terrace Motel at 4466 Jefferson Davis Highway. Lt. Michael Frank says two men were fighting and one ended up with a cut under his arm. He refused to go to the hospital. Both may be charged with disorderly conduct.
