AIKEN CTY, S.C. --- Three people, two of them probably familiar names to people, are looking for that elusive spot. To become the new Aiken County Superintendent.
The first candidate we have is Doctor Elizabeth Everitt. Right now, Dr. Everitt is the Superintendent of the Albuquerque, New Mexico Public School System. She's been in that position since August, 2003. She's been with the same school system since the summer of 1983.
The second candidate is a familiar one to Aiken County, Doctor David Mathis. He's currently the Associate Superintendent for Administration in the county. He's been there since 2006. Dr. Mathis has an extensive history with Edgefield County. He worked there from 1979 until 2006.
And speaking of Edgefield County, our third candidate just left the district. His name is Doctor Frank Roberson. He just finished up his last day as Interim Superintendent in Edgefield County yesterday. Before that, he has an extensive history with Aiken County Schools, dating back to 1979. He was also the Edgefield County Associate Superintendent before taking over as Interim Superintendent.
There are your three candidates for Aiken County Superintendent. There is a Board of Education meeting planned for Monday Night, where board members will go talk about the three finalists, as well as contract information. But there is no announcement planned for Monday. Stick with News 12; we'll bring you the announcement as soon as it's released.
