AUGUSTA, Ga. --- The results are in and Joe Jackson won the District 6 seat. Jackson had 59.72% of the vote. In all, Jackson had 1,355 votes. Rosa Clemons came in second with 387 votes. Other candidates in the District 6 race included, Tony Lewis, Juanita Burney, and Elmer Singley.

Jackson said the main items on his platform include, law enforcement, recreation, planning and zoning, and working together. He wants everyone in Augusta to come together and work with the sheriff's department to make the streets safer.

"I feel excited and I appreciate everybody that got out there to vote. I know that every candidate that ran for the sixth district has put their heart and soul into it. It's a good feeling and I know there's going to be a winner and some losers but I think the voters spoke for themselves," Jackson said.

Jackson said it was a clean race, and now it's time to move forward and get to work.
