Barnwell firefighter dies in fire at home

BARNWELL, S.C.---Family and firefighters from the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department in Barnwell are remembering Bentrice Flint. The Vietnam veteran and firefighter fell victim to a fire in his own home early Sunday morning (November 4) on Jordan Road in Barnwell.

57-year-old Bentrice Flint was a firefighter for 15 years.

The fire broke out in his home around 3:45 in the morning and became fully involved. Firefighters could not reach him.

Flint leaves behind three children.

His family will hold a memorial Saturday (November 10) at 1 o'clock at Union Baptist in Barnwell.
