Teens charged with involuntary manslaughter in tent pole death

November 2, 2007

RICHMOND CTY, Ga.---Two teenagers are being charged with involuntary manslaughter as juveniles in the tent pole death of their father, Tony Powell, Sr.

Richmond County investigators say the 15- and 16-year-old brothers threw a tent pole at their father. Powell died Monday (October 29), six days after the tent pole penetrated his skull and brain.

The older boy admitted throwing the pole, but told News 12 the death was an accident as he tried to stop his dad from drinking and driving.
