Domino's, fire department team up for safety

October 30, 2007

LANGLEY, S.C.---Order a pizza and have your life saved at the same time? That's what happened tonight when Domino's Pizza and the Langley Fire Department teamed up.

Random customers were chosen to have their smoke detectors checked by the Langley Fire Department when their pizzas were delivered. Those who had working detectors got a pizza for free.

"I don't think anybody thought they would get a free pizza for a working smoke detector," said Domino's manager Allen Baer.

"This is very important, even though we are delivering pizza, the biggest thing we want to get across is to check your fire extinguisher and smoke detectors to make sure they're working properly," said Capt. Raleigh Harden of the Langley Fire Department.
