SC National Guardsman killed in Afghanistan

October 25, 2007

Family, friends, and fellow National Guardsmen are mourning today. 38-year-old Sgt. Edward Philpot from Latta, South Carolina was killed in Afghanistan.

Philpot's aunt says the sergeant left for Afghanistan in January and was serving as a military scout.

The HUMVEE he was in went off a road and overturned.

Philpot's wife is an English teacher at Latta High School.
