Robbery suspect captured after chase

October 22, 2007

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.---For a second time in recent weeks, Burnettown's police chief was in the right place at the right time. After an armed robbery at Fast Cash Payday Advance in Langley, Chief D.P. Smith picked up the chase.

It went up to 85 miles an hour and ended abruptly when North Augusta officers used stop sticks on the 5th Street bridge.

Larry Smith of Yellow Ribbon Road in Aiken tried to run, but he was caught quickly and is now in jail.
