Ryan Clark's mom heads to D.C.

October 13, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The mother of Augusta native and Virginia Tech shooting victim Ryan Clark is headed to Washington.

Lettie Clark is going to the nation's capital to push for tougher gun laws.

She'll arrive on Tuesday, the 6 month anniversary of Ryan's death.

22-year-old Clark was the second person killed in the shootings at the school.

His killer, Cho Seung-Hui, was found to have a history of mental illness.

Clark's mother wants stricter background checks required for gun purchases. It's part of a larger bill that will overhaul the current background check system. The new legislation would restrict gun sales to mental patients.
