Landfill worker accused of theft lied about conviction

October 10, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga.---A former Augusta landfill worker is facing charges that she stole money and checks. Now it turns out she probably never should have had that job anyway.

Katrina Jones lied on her job application about a felony drug conviction. In 2002, she was found in possession of cocaine in Columbia County.

In Richmond County, Jones was charged with giving false information to law enforcement, not having a drivers license or proof of insurance, and speeding.

Jones is now accused of taking $71,000, including $12,000 in checks. She was fired Thursday (October 4).
