A violent 18 hours

October 9, 2007

It's been an extremely violent 18 hours or so in our area.

Last night, one young Augusta man, Sylvester Walker, was shot and killed, and another man, Donald Harmon, is in jail for that murder.

In Aiken this morning, deputies say an estranged husband, Barry Smith, tried to kidnap his wife, Valerie Woods. She fired shots at him. Ultimately he grabbed her and took off, but deputies caught him and he is now in jail.

Also, we're getting reports of a woman, Tomeka Williams, stabbing her boyfriend, Chedrick Eubanks, in the chest at the Value Place Hotel on Gordon Highway. He's in bad shape and she's in jail. There were five children in the hotel room at the time of the stabbing, around 2 o'clock this morning.

We also understand there has been another shooting incident today, at the Sunset Homes development. A man is in the hospital in stable condition.

We'll have more for you on all these stories on News 12 First at Five and News 12 at 6 o'clock. Stay tuned.
