Black & Decker recalls random orbit sanders

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Black & Decker is issuing a voluntary recall of their Random Orbit Sanders. Stop using the item immediately unless you have been otherwise instructed.
According to the release by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall is because the black plastic disc that holds the sandpaper can fly off or break apart when being used. The disc, or pieces of the disc, can hit the user or those nearby, posing a laceration hazard.
The sanders were sold at home center hardware and discount stores and at authorized Black & Decker dealers.
The sanders involved in the recall are model numbers RO400, RO400G, RO410, RO410K, RO410LW and FS3000ROS and date codes between 200701 and 200929. The sanders are orange and black with "Black & Decker" printed on them. The model number is located on a label and thehe date code is stamped on the underside where the dust bag is inserted.
If you have one of the Random Orbit Sanders, stop using it immediately and contact Black & Decker for a free replacement platen to hold the sandpaper. You can reach Black & Decker toll-free at (866) 220-1767 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
