ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia will get $50 million in federal funds to renovate or finish homes in depressed communities.
Fifteen Georgia municipalities qualified for assistance to buy and rehab foreclosed homes and sell them to local residents using funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
Edward Jennings Jr., HUD regional director, says more than 100,000 families will be impacted.
Grants included $12 million to metro Atlanta.
Officials in Gwinnett County say their $2 million award will help purchase and rehab approximately 30 homes.
