AUGUSTA---A high speed chase ended with a crash in North Augusta around 3 o'clock this morning.
The Richmond County DUI Task Force says a man driving a pickup truck was going 73 in a 45 mile per hour zone on Gordon Highway. When deputies tried to pull the driver over, he sped up to 94 miles per hour.
Deputies say they chased the truck until it reached the South Carolina line, when they stopped the chase. Richmond County does not cross the state line unless it's a forcible felony offense.
About a mile into South Carolina down Highway 1, the truck crossed over the median and flipped. The man was ejected. His wife was also in the truck. We're told they are both in stable condition.
The driver is charged with DUI, fleeing and attempting to elude, and speeding. Charges in South Carolina are pending.
