ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Department of Transportation is joining several other entities to promote awareness of the role of transit services statewide.
Georgia Transit Day 2010 on Wednesday is set to include events in all of the state's 12 regional commission areas.
It aims to bring together legislators, local elected officials, regional commission officials, the business community, transit agencies, as well as other key stakeholders.
It will feature a statewide webcast featuring GDOT commissioner Vance Smith, planning director Todd Long and Senate transportation chairman Jeff Mullis, followed by a local program in each region.
The transit day is hosted by GDOT, along with Georgia Transit Association, the Livable Communities Coalition and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
