AIKEN, S.C. (AP) -- The operations office at South Carolina's
former nuclear weapons site is getting a new manager.

The U.S. Department of Energy said Tuesday Dave Moody is taking
over the Savannah River Site's operations office.

Officials say Moody will oversee Savannah River's liquid storage
program as well as spent nuclear fuel processing and environmental
cleanup efforts.

Moody has worked with DOE in New Mexico and served as a
technical advisor at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Rocky Flats
for over 30 years. He replaces Jack Craig, who is returning to his
job with DOE in Cincinnati.

Savannah River opened near the Georgia-South Carolina line in
the early 1950s and once produced plutonium and tritium for atomic
bombs. Now, work there is focused mostly on research and
environmental cleanup.
