SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- Investigators along Georgia's coast are weighing whether to file charges against a wife they say shot and killed her husband, an Army soldier recently returned from Iraq.
Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller said Sunday that investigators have questioned Melaya Sams after the death Saturday of her husband, Staff Sgt. Michael Sams.
No charges have been filed against the wife, who did not return a message seeking comment. Detectives and local prosecutors continue to investigate what they say was a domestic dispute.
Police found the 36-year-old soldier badly wounded after being called to his Wilmington Island home for a report of gunfire. He died at a hospital.
Authorities said Sams had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
