Fire breaks out at abandoned downtown warehouse

AUGUSTA, Ga.---Investigators are trying to figure out how a big fire started at an old warehouse on the corner of 12th and Fenwick Street early this morning.

Fire Lt. G.B. Hannan tells News 12 it appears the fire started in an area of the building where deputies usually chase people away.

The fire started at about 3:45 a.m., and seven fire companies responded.

The building was abandoned. Lt. Hannan says one person was seen around the building before the fire.
