Georgia high school dropouts down

September 28, 2007

Good news for students and their parents. Today Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue announced a decrease in the number of high school dropouts for the 2006-2007 school year, down 2,272 from the 2005-2006 school year.

Gov. Perdue also announced an increase in the state's 2006-2007 graduation rate, to 72.3 percent.

The governor says he thinks high schools can do better, so he set a goal of 80 percent graduation by 2010.
