MCDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- The victim has been identified in a fatal accident that happened in McDuffie County on Monday.
The three-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of State Route 17 and the Thomson Bypass around 11:14 a.m.
Officials say a Ford Crown Victoria was driving west on the Thomson Bypass when it failed to stop at a stop sign and went into the intersection, getting hit by a tractor trailer driving north.
The Ford overturned on the shoulder of the road. Its driver, 43-year-old James A. Lucas Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.
After hitting the Ford, the tractor trailer crossed over into the southbound lane, where it hit a Chevrolet HRR. The driver of the SUV, Felicia Jacobs, was flown to Georgia Regents Medical Center. Jacobs is said to be in stable condition.
The driver of the tractor trailer, William Croft, was not injured in the accident.
