MARTINEZ, Ga.---Shepeard Blood Center has an immediate need for platelet donations at their Platelets and Plasma Center at 112 Davis Road in Martinez.

Marketing and Public Relations Manager Linda Petersen says a baby and others are using the center's platelets as fast as they are processed, and they need someone to donate today.

Here is some information about platelet donation:

• Platelets can be donated every 2 weeks and do not impact a person’s ability to donate whole blood--just tell them platelets only when you go to donate if you want to save the whole blood donation for your blood drives.


• You cannot have taken an aspirin within 3 days of donating platelets.
