AUGUSTA, Ga.---Today is the day for the annual "Great American Smokeout", which is the annual effort to get people to quit smoking, at least for the day.

It's also the day all Richmond County school property goes smoke-free all the time. That includes buildings, stadiums, and school district vehicles.

Signs have gone up to remind people of that. The new policy applies to everyone.

I think this is an excellent idea. However, I am worried about what somkers will experience. A lot of them have an addiction to nicotine and they will probably experience some type of withdrawal if they are not able to smoke during the day. It's a healthy start.
