CHICAGO (AP) -- Inhaler drugs might be harmful for some people,
according to a new study.

Researchers have pooled results from 17 randomized studies. They
conclude that people suffering from a combination of emphysema and
chronic bronchitis may have a slightly higher risk for heart
attacks and even death from two inhaled drugs used to treat the
condition.

The drugs are sold under the brand names Spiriva Handihaler and
Atrovent.

The results of the study aren't conclusive and inhalers provide
significant relief for patients struggling to breathe. Still, the researchers are urging doctors to closely monitor patients who use
the inhalers.

The study appears in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
