AUGUSTA---Developers have brought new life to the old William Robinson School in Augusta. The building has been remodeled into energy efficient and environmentally friendly condominiums. Augusta Capitol INC, says the project is nearly complete, and features 12 living spaces, formed out of old classrooms and school features.

One 3 bedroom unit was designed using the old auditorium stage area, with the hardwood floors remaining intact. Developers say generations of graduates have come back to visit the school and contribute to its decorum.

The buildings renovations were completed using the LEED standards (Leadership for Energy and Eco-Friendly Development). The national program helps to certify that a builder has taken steps to reduce energy consumption and efficiency within a project.

The William Robinson school building, now known as School HOUSE Augusta, touts numerous skylights, motion activated light switches, and a surface water recycling program.

Open house tours are scheduled for next week.
