Aiken hydrogen houses could cost nothing to power
Chucker Creek Elementary students broke ground on a new kind of enery-efficient home in an Aiken subdivision. They may be the future but the home is being called a home of the present.

Nice to see more interest in energy saving homes in the CSRA again as few have been built since the early 80s but the floor plan shown above appears to be for conventional high energy use or in this case a high cost owner maintained onsite power supply (hydrogen) and does not-appear to take full advantage of known energy savings from passive solar layout nor known savings in energy construction costs via close grouped plumbing and HVAC runs,etc.. There are already many proven-home designs that require little or only backup power sources but the builders Code has resisted by requiring-conventional construction and power supplies. Whats needed is a power supply that is efficient and economical that won't cost more than using the grid or even small backup HVAC units that use alternative power sources (like hydrogen) without breaking the bank in initial cost or upkeep nor require taxpayers funds. Course builders, product and energy suppliers and their Codes, will always resist change.
